Hi, I'm Brian Crocker. Living and working in Plymouth I am a full stack web developer and Creative Director of Kinetic Jam Digital Development Studio Plymouth.
I have a huge passion for interface design and building intuitive interfaces. I've been working as a web developer for nearly 10 years and I've enjoyed almost every minute of it.
I am always looking for new freelance projects so if you are after looking for a new website deign or development, to maintain your current website site, increase your search engine ranking or just chat about your online presence why not get in touch. I'm always on the lookout for web design, social media, or search engine optimisation projects.
South Devon College
The website was built in Joomla 2.5, underpinned by the Bootstrap 3 framework. I worked on two major iterations of this site, from the initial inception of a 2009 1.5 version to its eventual upgrade to 2.5 and RWD rebuild and design in 2014/15. This responsive web design project took around a year from initial discussion stage to design, development to deployment.
I was responsible for the design development and user testing, along with user training and compiling guidance documentation. All content was provided by our marketing team. The project was delivered ahead of schedule.
The client approached me to build them a fully responsive website for their new mountain bike experiences business. The brief was simple, using the provided colour scheme, build a site that is both intuitive and easy on the eye. The result is a clean, easy to navigate, one page site featuring, images, video and testimonials.
South West Renovators
For this project time was critical. The client was launching a new business in a matter of weeks and needed a website quickly. We met and decided upon a simple site that showcased some of his best projects and provided enough information on their full range of services.
This is a Bootstrap2 themed site which is both simple to navigate and elegant to view.
South West Energy Centre
The South West Energy Centre was first launched with a third party site, which was both expensive to run and maintain and was not very user friendly. I was approached to take on the website build in late 2016 and turned around this Joomla based, Bootstrap 3 custom themed website.
The site itself also makes use of the Prospectus and Course Management software I wrote for South Devon College as all course information displayed on the website comes directly from that admin system.
Prospectus and Course Management
Part of the revamp of the South Devon College public website, I built the PaC-Management admin systems specifically to focus on course information.
Bespokely built in Ruby on Rails using a simple custom Bootstrap theme, this system revolutionised how courses were created and maintained on the website. The success of this system, with its simplified interface, clearly labeled input fields and training I provided, saw an increase in some course traffic by over 300% and resulted in increased application numbers.
Robins and Moore Goldsmiths
Ray Robins first approached me late in 2011 to help take their long standing, family run business online, for the first time. Ray wanted a maintainable site, enabling himself or his staff to highlight some of their best products to entice customers into their shop in Plymouth City Centre.
What I delivered was a Joomla based CMS, allowing for easy product uploads and maintenance.
Future First Financial Solutions
John Agnew, the founder of Future First Financial Solutions, approached me September 2015 with a view to build him a new website. The site needed to be responsive, lightweight, self maintainable and offer users a pleasant while engaging experience. Increasing traffic and conversion rates were also crucial.
Within budget we were able to produce a Joomla CMS website, built with a custom Bootstrap theme enabling John to reach more customers and improve his web presence.
